The opening event, CSIO* Maximus Air Cargo Trophy- Two Phases Jumping competition, had attracted a field of 33 jumpers from around ten countries including the UAE, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Great Britain and Germany.
The weather played havoc with strong winds and sandstorms almost making visibility impossible but the riders were undeterred and pursued their quest for victory with gusto.
Nadia Taryam from the Sharjah Equestrian Club finished in the first place riding nine-year-old Bay Belise, which is owned by Abdul Aziz Taryam. She cleared the rounds in 31.25 seconds with no faults.
Second place went to Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi who brilliantly partnered Natalie, 9-year-old Bay from Germany. He clocked 32.32 seconds with no faults.
Third place went to Hamad Al Kerbi, who was astride Loyalty 2, 10-year-old bay, from Sharjah Equestrian Club. He cleared the rounds in 34.89 seconds.
After the victory young Nadia Taryam said very modestly: “I’m indeed proud to win the opening class of this prestigious event.”
