The seven-year-old son of Marwan who won the European Derby in his home country Holland three years back, is destined for the Dubai Kahyla Group-1 on the Dubai World Cup night at the Meydan Racecourse this Saturday.

Dutch lady owner Margaretha De Ruiter said she has received the invitation for the Arabian Classic on Sunday morning and it’s up to trainer Gillian Duffield to decide on the matter.

“We have to wait and see how he has come from the race before taking any decision,” she said.

In the Thoroughbreds equivalent, a 2200m Group-3 contest, Topclas lived up to his name and came with a late run under Patrick Cosgrave to claim the title for Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and trainer Mubarak bin Shafya.

Tadhg O’Shea started the night in a very good form after partnering Ragdan to victory in the 1200m Purebred Arabians UAE Bred Conditions Al Bateen Race, the curtain raiser of the final day of the Abu Dhabi season.

The top Irish jockey who’s looking forward to land his second jockeys’ championship reduced the gap with pace setter Wayne Smith to one winner with some fine rides in the remaining five races.

Najim Al Khaleej held on courageously under Richard Mullen to win the second race, a 1400m Purebred Arabians Handicap Al Manhal Race for trainer Saifaldin Deeb. The five-year-old son of Bibi De Carrere made a smooth progress to lead in the home straight and prevailed by just a head when challenged by the mount of Gerald Avranche, Naseem Al Reef close home.

Richard Mullen rode his second win of the night after he partnered Sarbella to land the third race, a 1600m Purebred Arabians Conditions Wathba Stud Farm Championship (private Owners Only). The final race, a 2200m Purebred Arabians Last Chance Conditions Race was won by Royston Ffrench aboard Timadit Al Mels.
