The six-race card will kick off at 2.10pm with the 1200m Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Breeders Society Cup, which has attracted a maximum field of 16 runners going to post.
In second race, sponsored by Ascan, top weight Effort will battle it out against 12 contenders that have been declared for the race.
Atlantic Brave will be engaged in a head-to-head fight against Rochefort in the Commercial Bank of Dubai-sponsored fourth race with both horses looking forward to book a berth for the Dubai World Cup big night in one of the two sprints.
The Boys in Blue, Richard Hills aboard Aqmaar and Tadhg O’Shea astride Musleh, have a lot of work to do when they face Canwinn and Celtic King in the 1400m Al Shafar Group fifth race on the card.
The final race, an 1800m Orient Irrigation Services-sponsored one, will see a full field of 16 runners lining up under the starter’s orders.
“The first race will start at 2.10pm instead of 2.30 as it was the usual practice,” said Yasser Mabrouk of the Emirates Racing Association (ERA).
“There will be a special programme for the kids at the backyard of the Grand Stand with plenty of shows to keep the younger fans amused throughout the afternoon. More than 120 gifts will be distributed to the spectators at the entry gates, in addition to mobile phones and electronic items that can be won against free coupons which will be distributed with the pick-six forms,” Sharief Al Halawani, director of the Jebel Ali Racecourse, confirmed on Tuesday while promising a fun day for all.
“There’s room for everyone to entertain himself and enjoy a special afternoon at the outskirts of the city,” he said.But Al Halaewani urged racegoers to cooperate with the racecourse management.
“The safety of the children as well as the horses and jockeys is of great importance for us. We request people to keep the place clean and follow the rules while enjoying their family day-out,” he said.
The best turned out horses competition for the six races is sponsored by the Dubai International Arabian Horseracing Centre. The groom of each winner will receive Dh1,000 except for the feature race, which carries a prize money of Dh2,000.
The popular pick-six and tri-cast competitions will be worth Dh70,000 in prizemoney. And a brand new 2010 model car will be raffled off with tickets priced for Dh10 only. The draw will take place after the final race and the lucky winner will be available to drive home his new automobile.
