Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has launched the Asset Tracking System to track down its vehicles in various parts of Dubai.
The move is part of the framework of a shift to the smart system, and also to boost field efficiency.
This system, one of the latest being used in the world, allows to track the movement of ambulances 24 hours a day. It also provides, in a fraction of a second, several kinds of data and statistics which used to take days in the past to obtain.
Taleb Ghaloum, Director of Operations at the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance, said the system interacts with drivers, operation theatres, hospitals and maintenance section and monitors all information and prepares reports on the condition of a patient and determines the whereabouts of the vehicle. He added that it also reports on the state of medical equipment available in the vehicle.
Ghaloum added that the system, if necessary, could send electronic messages to the maintenance section, illustrating the condition of the vehicle and monitoring the patient's condition until they reach the emergency department. He noted that the system has so far been installed in 16 ambulances.
