The Emirates Gastroentrology and Hepatology Society (EGHS), in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Community Prevention, has launched an awareness campaign targeting Hepatitis C awareness.
The campaign, "Ready to heal Hepatitis C", was announced during a press conference held in collaboration with the ministry, the hepatology society, and Gilead Sciences, as per Al Bayan report.
Dr Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Centres and Clinics for the ministry, said the campaign aims at raising awareness amongst residents and families of Hepatitis C patients.
It will utilise social media and networking platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp, in the hopes of reaching as many people as possible.
Al Rand added, "By 2030, we hope to diagnose 90 per cent of patients living with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), treat 80 percent of those diagnosed, and then fully cure 80 per cent of all cases."
