Three embrace Islam at Auqaf Dept's stand

DUBAI — Three people embraced Islam at the official inauguration of the tent-like stand of Auqaf and Islamic Affairs Department on Al Muraqqabat Street in Dubai on Thursday.

The opening of the Tent "Wahat Al Hoda" was part of the DSF 2005 activities.

Two of the new Muslims are a Chinese couple. The woman was a Christian and changed her name to Hana after converting to Islam, while the name of her husband, the then Buddhist, became Mubarak.


Mubarak said he came to Dubai for trade and embraced Islam after reading about the religion.

The third case was a Filipina, who chose the name "Ameera" after embracing Islam.


When the three declared themselves Muslims, a number of people who attended the ceremony hailed and congratulated them.

Earlier the ceremony was opened by Ibrahim Saleh, Senior Executive Director for Operations at DSF, and Jassim Al Awadhi, General Supervisor of DSF activities on Al Muraqqabat Street.

Present at the function were Saeed Al Rahoomi, on behalf of the Director-General of the Auqaf Department, Dr Omar Al Khateeb, Director of the Department of Iftaa and Researches and Dr Saif Al Jabri, Director of the Islamic affairs Division.

Also present were Aiysha Mohammed Obaid Al Kash, General Supervisor, "Wahat Al Hoda" activities, and an official at the department.
