Will send out a clear message of tolerance and hope to the people of India and Pakistan when they start broadcasting from the end of May, a 50-minute musical game show Gayegi Duniya Geet Mere featuring contestants and panel singers from both the countries.

Shooting for the programme is currently under way at the Ajman Studios in Ajman with Annu Kapoor of the Antakshari fame and Saima Shiraz from Pakistan anchoring the programme. The contestants include expatriates from the sub-continent in the UAE and a panel of singers from both the countries.

Speaking at a Press conference in Dubai on Sunday, Imran Aslam, President of Geo TV, said that programme would go a long way in breaking the silence and hostility between the people of both the countries. "Culturally there is a great deal in common among people of both the countries, and a lot of nostalgia that will be manifested as we start telecasting the musical show."

The main idea is to offer a platform for people from both the countries to intermingle and break the horrifying and deafening silence with rationality and dignity, Mr Aslam said while hoping that the musical game show would help break new ground. "This is the first step towards a long journey but it will help in bring people from both the countries together," he said.

Annu Kapoor, the host of the longest running musical show on television, the Zee Antakshari was also present on the occasion and described the upcoming musical game show as a tremendous effort on the part of the Geo TV. "Music transcends all barriers and when Indian and Pakistani artists get together on the same stage to pay tribute to legends from both Bollywood and Lollywood, history of sorts will be created" he said.

The shooting of the first 15 episodes will start from April 29 with six contestants featuring in each of the episodes.

"The musical show will evoke nostalgia, goodwill, curiosity as well as a healthy competition," said Mr Kapoor who is busy recording with his panel of singers more than 290 songs during the course of the next four days.

Also present on the occasion was RimJhim Bhagchandani, the event organiser and co-producer of the musical show, who lauded Geo TV for launching such an innovative programme.
