The launch of Al Minsaf was announced yesterday at a Press conference by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Director General Khalid A. bin Sulayem, Patrice Douce, General Manager, Bateaux Dubai; Salah Saleh, Executive Director, Dutco and Khalid Baker, Manager, Dutco.

Mr Bin Sulayem, who was highly impressed with the products and services being offered by Bateaux Dubai, said the new project will be a welcome addition to the 15 hospitality vessels currently operating within Dubai. He said that it has always been DTCM's constant effort to promote Dubai as a tourist destination internationally.

"The new project will definitely increase the number of attractions we are trying to provide in the emirate, and we look forward to other projects in the future," he said. Bateaux Dubai is a fine example of DTCM's efforts in successfully marketing Dubai internationally and speaks volumes about the cooperation between the public and private sector in the emirate, he added. Bateaux Dubai founders and owners are the Dutco Group, the Paris-based Sodexho Alliance Group and other private investors.

On concerns over the increasing number of dhow cruise liners and other vessels along the creek, Mr Bin Sulayem said that DTCM is a member of a committee which oversees the utilisation of the Dubai Creek and was very selective when it came to new vessels operating on the Creek. Patrice Douce of Bateaux Dubai said that Al Minsaf, which could accommodate up to 350 guests was a relatively new concept which was specifically designed for Dubai. "It is not designed to compete with the dhows operating in the Creek, but we hope to develop the market potential of the Creek," he explained. Measuring 56 metres long and 13 metres wide, Al Minsaf is designed and engineered by Paris-based Siene Design studio which is founded, owned and managed by Gerard Ronzatti, a specialist in hospitality vessels. It is powered by four independent diesel electric engines.

The Al Minsaf, like its "sister ships" in Paris, London and New York, will offer lunch and dinner cruises with a la Carte menus; sunset cruises to be enjoyed from its open double deck; and charter cruises for private, social or corporate events.
