Abu Dhabi - In response to the ongoing conflict in Yemen, the UAE has provided over Dh93.8million assistance to Yemen.
The UAE had pledged Dh100m in aid; and has already sent 8,000 tonnes of food, fuel and health material sent through five ships, 11 flights and 40 trucks.
Shaikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) and Head of the UAE Committee for Coordination of Humanitarian Foreign Aid, said the UAE is one of the pioneering countries, which provides support to people affected by humanitarian crises across the world.
Its effective response represents a historic legacy gleaned from the wise leadership, she added.
Shaikha Lubna said the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, are aimed at ensuring a quick response to the humanitarian crises in Yemen and providing relief to the affected people. She emphasised that the UAE will continue its coordinated efforts to safeguard the delivery of assistance to the Yemenis.
Shaikha Lubna praised the efforts of the participant entities in providing the humanitarian assistance which include the Emirates Red Crescent; the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation; the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment; the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; the UAE Water Aid Foundation; Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation; Sharjah Charity House; Al Rahma Charity Association and Sharjah Charity International.
In addition to the aid supply, the country has also received a large number of Yemenis injured in Houthi attacks, and are undergoing treatment in various hospitals, in implementation of the directives of The President; and follow up of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
