Shurooq takes part in 2nd Arab German Majilis

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has successfully concluded their participation in the 2nd Arab German Majlis 2012, which took place between June 27 and July 4 in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt, Germany.

Commenting on Shurooq’s presence at the 2nd Arab German Majilis, Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, Head of Investment Promotion at Shurooq, said, ‘Our purpose throughout Shurooq’s visit to Germany was to introduce the many exciting business and investment opportunities and projects that Sharjah has to offer and to discuss the possibility of increased future cooperation and mutually beneficial collaboration between Shurooq and Germany’s prosperous business, investment, and tourism sectors.’

Al Musharrkh, who represented Shurooq at the second Majilis event which took place at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich on 2nd July, went on to add that Shurooq made use of this opportunity to explore new avenues of cooperation and collaboration with a number of the top businessmen and decision makers in Germany, as well as to present its highly exciting portfolio of new projects including the completed Al Majaz Waterfront, the ongoing project Heart of Sharjah which is the largest tourism and heritage project in the region, the newly unveiled The Chedi Khorfakkan Resort, in addition to Shurooq’s most ambitious project to date, the three phase Kalba Eco-tourism Project.

Organised by the German-Emirati Joint Council (AHK), the goal of the Arab German Majilis is to make use of the platform of the already existing strong relationships between Germany and the Gulf States to further strengthen and enhance sustainable partnerships by connecting Arab and German business people and decision makers from a variety of different industries. The Majilis, which took the form of three exclusive high profile networking events, featured a select circle of around thirty German company representatives and a further thirty prominent Arab business men and decision makers and aimed to develop lasting partnerships between Germany and the Gulf States in the economic sector, as well addressing the fields of culture, scientific research, education, and socio-political topics.

Germany is the UAE’s most important trading partner within the Eurozone, while the UAE in turn represents the most important market for Germany in the MENA Region, with more than 800 German companies currently established in the UAE and the volume of trade between the two countries in 2011 totaling $11 billion.
