Khalifa Al Taniji, Chairman of Sharjah's Housing Department, issued a statement on Sharjah's Direct Line Arabic channel regarding the housing allotments for UAE residents of the emirate of Sharjah.
Al Taniji stated that His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the Department of Housing in Sharjah to collaborate with banks and halt monthly installments taken from Sharjah's residents who are eligible for housing grants, and whose salaries are less than Dh25,000 a month.
This is for citizens who work for the government or private sector.
UAE citizens who were not eligible for the housing grant last year but can avail of it this year (citizens with less than Dh25,000 salary) will be refunded the bank installments they have paid already and have the rest of the amount waived as a housing grant.
Housing grants were determined to the tune of Dh800,000 per citizen, Dh150,000 higher than was allowed last year at Dh650,000.
Dh156m given in total for all housing allotments. Housing grants were the lions' share of this amount, with Dh88m for 153 citizens.
"110 people were eligible for housing loans to the tune of Dh68m," he added.
