The four-day Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) election entered the final day, with counting of votes set to begin at 8pm at Al Qasimia University Auditorium.
According to the directives of the Supreme Committee for the SCC polls, the counting will be broadcast live on all television networks and other media outlets of Sharjah Media Corporation throughout the night until all the results and winners have been announced.
In accordance with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the first local election in the emirate is being held under the slogan of 'Take Part in Decision Making'.
Citizens, heeding to the call of Dr Shaikh Sultan to involve in the decision making process, thronged polling booths on Saturday, the third day to cast their votes at various polling centres.
Mansour Mohammad Nassar, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for SCC Elections, urged citizens who registered for voting to reach the nearest polling station to cast their votes to select 21 members, the half of the number of seats at SCC.
He added that the day three of the election also saw a number of dignitaries who visited the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, the main polling centre.
Nasser hailed the "remarkable national experience", expressing his satisfaction with the enthusiastic response from the citizens, heralding a new phase of democracy in the country's history.
"Sharjah is witnessing an important period and a new phase of democracy, a democracy that was always present and reflected in our society and our country, as well as in our identity, of which we are proud," he said.
Four candidates withdrew their nominations during the three days of voting held across nine centres.
Ahmed Al Jarwan, Head of Election Management Committee said that there were no violations reported during the last three days of the voting at any of the polls station across the emirate.
