Residents of Al Ain will be able to enjoy 10 to 55 per cent of discount on the sale of 4,000 products in as many as 70 stores till April 20.
What's more, the discount will be available on 1,800 products in these stores throughout the year, reports Al Bayan newspaper.
Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of Consumer Protection Department, was quoted as saying in the report that the department is currently working with suppliers to launch sale initiatives across the country aiming to reduce prices.
Pointing out that sale initiatives in Al Ain have been hugely successful, Al Nuaimi said all the stores participating in the initiative should follow regulations that include announcing the products up for grabs, its type and the price - in English and Arabic.
The Ministry of Economy is also working to chalk out plans and programmes with the suppliers to provide all the products during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as listing the prices and carrying out awareness campaign for customers, Al Nuaimi added.
Stores and supermarkets should also share their plans and schemes for Ramadan, in order to offer customers reasonable prices for an array of products.
