His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has urged government officials to not ignore even the smallest problems that residents report. If they are unable to take a decision, he has urged them to refer the matter to him.
In a wide-ranging question and answer session on the sidelines of the 45th London Book Fair, Dr Shaikh Sultan revealed lesser known aspects about his philosophy that has shaped Sharjah as the cultural capital of the UAE.
Backing the UAE's declaration of 2016 as the Year of Reading, Dr Shaikh Sultan said: "We want to create a reading population, a progressive society that can keep pace with the future and is free from destructive thoughts that are alien to our customs and traditions."
