Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, AMAF, has announced that it will sponsor the complete repair works of an Emirati family's house in Al Warqaa area of Dubai that was damaged by fire and resulted in the death of a five-year-old child in April 2017.

The fire injured several other family members and destroyed about 70 per cent of the house, rendering it uninhabitable. News of the tragic event prompted AMAF as a strategic partner of the UAE's #Year of Giving to support the family.

Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary-General of AMAF, said, "AMAF works relentlessly to develop and implement a wide range of charity and community projects in line with endowment conditions. We were saddened by the misfortune that befell the Emirati family and resulted in the loss of a young life and destroyed a large part of the family home."

He added, "In the spirit of social solidarity during the Holy Month of Ramadan and in line with the UAE Year of Giving, we have decided to help the family and finance the complete repair of the fire-damaged house, valued at Dh380,000, from our Piety and Righteousness endowment fund."
