Diego Milito will hope to fire for Inter Milan as they take on AFC Champions Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma FC in the semifinal of the Club World Cup at the Zayed Sports City on Wednesday night.
The 31-year-old is making a comeback from an injury lay-off and is itching to have a go on Wednesday night.
“This competition is unique. We don’t know if we will get a chance to play in this tournament again. So, we will try and give it our best and I’m looking forward to it,” said Milito, who had a dream first season with Inter last year, with whom he won the treble—Serie A, Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League.
Milito said that he was feeling better and has been training pretty hard. “I feel fine. I’ve been training for over a week now. Everybody wants to play good football and everybody is ready,” he said.
He said that it would ideal if he could score goals but the most important thing was to win the Club World Cup. “I just play to win. I want to score goals. If I score, it would be great but the most important thing is winning. That is what I want the most and it would be wonderful to win the trophy,” said Milito, who fired two goals as Inter defeated Germany’s Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu in the Champions League.
Milito admitted that they have been going through difficult times this season but the team spirit has been good. The Nerazzurri have been pretty average this season under new manager Rafael Benitez and are seventh in Serie A, 13 points behind leaders AC Milan.
“We are all together. The group is happy. We have a big competition ahead of us and we have good team spirit. We had some difficulties in the past but everyone is available and happy,” said Milito.
