Al Ain were thumped 4-0 by Al Jazira in Week 10 of the Etisalat UAE Pro-League at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Sunday night and the club management acted swiftly in changing the coach.

The club management were not happy with the recent results. The nine-time champions are languishing ninth in the league table and only have two wins to show from their 10 games thus far. They have drawn four and lost four games.

Dr Khaled Mohamed Abdulla, CEO of Al Ain Club, said that Alexandre Tadeu Gallo will take over as coach and his first assignment will be the home game against Al Shabab at the Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium on Thursday.

Born in in Ribeirao Preto, the 43-year-old was a former defensive midfielder. Gallo started his career as a player in Botafogo-SP in 1986. In 2004, he started his career as coach with the club Villa Nova. In the same year, he was invited by the famous Brazilian coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo to work with him as assistant coach in Santos club where they won the Brazilian Championship.

Since then, Gallo has lead many great clubs like Portuguesa de Desportos, Santos and FC Tokyo e Sport. He has also coached SC Internacional in 2007. Gallo joins from Brazilian club Nautico.

“The club management decided to sack Abdul Hameed Al Mishtiki according to the vision of Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, first deputy president of the Club,” Dr Khaled said.
