“I watched the team playing against Al Nasr in the opener of the Etisalat Cup on Friday and took over in the first work-out on the next day morning,” he told newsmen at the clubhouse on Sunday.
“Above all I would like to thank the club’s management for laying confidence on me. I believe there’s a very good chance to make things good. The club is well established and I have made up my mind as to what should be done to well tune the squad though the time factor is very crucial for me job. There’s no much time remaining before the kick off of the pro-league.
“I have focused on the tactical part in the first training session in order to know more about the skills, abilities and fitness of the players,” he added. Regarding the differences which surfaced in the Kuwaiti media between the coach and the Kuwaiti club Al Nasr, Titi said he has discharged all liabilities and got the green light from the management. “It won’t be possible to sign a new contract with Sharjah without obtaining the approval of the Kuwaiti Football Association,” he noted.
Speaking about his general objectives in the short run, Titi said he will do his best to help the players to show the best of them and perform satisfactorily.
“We want to play beautiful football. There’s no coach in the world who didn’t like to see his side winning. But, in the case of Sharjah, I think we need to work hard. It’s a joint effort by the coach, players and management besides the faithful fans,” he said.
“I have sufficient knowledge about the region after nearly 10 years or even more in Morocco, Syria and Kuwait. Before coming here, I have spoken to some of my friends and there’s no problem in acclimatising with the UAE football in general and the Sharjah Club in particular. I have led the Syrian national team in a friendly against UAE after having spent three weeks of training camp in Abu Dhabi,” he said.
When asked about their upcoming clash against the Maradona-led Al Wasl, Titi said the only challenge ahead for him is to work on the weak points in his squad and not to talk nonsense.
“It’s very difficult to carry out radical or even major changes from day one,” Tita noted while completely ignoring to mention the name of any coach or team. He also declined to make any promises that he would win the national league’s title or finish in the top four.
“I think if are able to reach 80 per cent of our targeted strategy, it will be a great success,” he said.
