Being the only defender to win the title, Cannavaro is also the most capped Italian player of all time.

Cannavaro announced his retirement from international football on June 25 following Italy’s failure to qualify for the knock-out stage of the ongoing 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. “I’m delighted to be in this beautiful city. It’s a new experience in a new place with a new side and I have decided to go for it,” the 36-year-old was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli have started their preparations for the new season with an internal training camp before they head for Austria for a three-week training camp. Al Ahli’s new transfer Andre Pinga has also united with the squad. “I’m happy to be part of a highly regarded club like Al Ahli and play besides Cannavaro. You will see Pinga in his new look,” the Brazilian midfielder promised.
