Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan says it's a wonderful experience for him as a Bengal Tigers player in the second edition of the T10 League.
"It's been a fantastic experience for us. It's always good to go to a franchise that does smaller things in a big way. It has been a special journey for us," said Zaheer at a Bengal Tigers' event in Dubai.
"So congratulations to the franchise and the administrators on building this team and thanks for looking after the players so well. Everybody feels comfortable in the team," he added.
Team mentor Anis Sajan said it was very important for Bengal Tigers to have an experienced campaigner like Zaheer in their team. "We have a wonderful player like Zaheer Khan who is passing on tips to younger players," he said. "We have so many good players like Sam Billings, Jason Roy. It's been a memorable journey for us."
Meanwhile, team coach Stephen Fleming revealed why he took up the challenge of coaching a team in a T10 tournament
"I had no intention of coaching a team in T10 this year. But when I got a call from Anis Sajan, the team mentor, it was hard to say no," Fleming said.
"He is the reason I am here. He was very persuasive. His commitment to the game is very strong. My feeling was that anything he was involved with would have good research, good plans and great set-up," the former New Zealand captain added.
England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings says it's been a learning experience for him. "It's a fantastic team. We have a great coach in Stephen Fleming and some great players. It's a huge opportunity to keep learning about this new format of the game," he said.
