It will feature in the National Racing Championship’s Test and Media Day, which kicks off at 2pm and offers free entry to spectators.

The car will race in the FG1000 racing series, which will provide the talented young drivers with their first step on the motor racing career ladder within the Middle East.

It is designed to help develop their all-round racing skills to prepare them for a career at the highest level.

The championship, whose aim is to find the first Arab F1 driver, is open to drivers aged between 15 and 25 and uses specially designed cars that will be among the fastest seen in the region.

The debut drive at the Autodrome will see 15-year-old Edward Jones, who is arguably one of the best kart racers in the Middle East, behind the wheel.

One of the 12 young drivers who has so far qualified to take part in the forthcoming FG1000 championship, Jones is set to compete against talented UAE nationals Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Haytham Sultan Al Ali and Sultan Mahboubi, as well as two of Oman’s best young drivers, Sanad Al Rawahi and Haitham Suleiman Al Saqri, in the inaugural FG1000 series.

“The appearance of this single seater car at the Autodrome marks another major step in the build-up to the inaugural Formula Gulf 1000 series,” said Barry Hope of GulfSport Racing, organiser of the championship.
