In Sunday’s chaotic race, where changing weather conditions forced most drivers to pit at least four times, the McLarens finished ahead of Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg in third place and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in fourth.

Renault’s Robert Kubica took fifth, ahead of pole sitter Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, who was shuffled down by the early change to wet-weather tires.

Vitaly Petrov of Russia got his first ever F1 points in seventh, ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher of Mercedes.
