An Irishman created ruckus at the Dublin Airport after he jumped security and ran onto the tarmac to board an already taxiing plane to Amsterdam.
Patrick Kehoe, 23, arrived at the airport after the boarding gate had closed and got into an argument with the staff. He was determined to board the flight and shouted out to the pilot to wait as he ran towards the aircraft before being pinned down by airport security. The flight departed 21 minutes behind schedule, but reportedly landed on time in Amsterdam.
Kehoe from Raheenaskeagh in County Wexford, has been charged with criminal damage to a door lock and brought before Dublin's district court on Thursday. He was released on a bail of ?200 (Dh854 approx) and is slated to appear again on November 8.
In a statement, an airport spokesman said, "A male and female passenger were late for a Ryanair flight to Amsterdam this morning and arrived at the boarding gate after the flight had closed. The male passenger was becoming agitated and was banging on the window to try and get the aircraft to wait... and made his way onto the apron, trying to flag the aircraft down." While, an eyewitness to the incident told Irish broadcaster RTÉ that the man ran towards the plane 'with his suitcase under his arm'.
Kehoe also apparently created quite a scene as he left the court, a BBC News reporter said, adding, that he covered his face with a folder and shouted abuse at journalists at the court, before swinging his suitcase at the crowd and lowering his trousers to expose his backside.
