One snag of working from home, as parents juggle profession and childcare during lockdown, was hilariously revealed on live television during an interview.
Dr Clare Wenham, from South London, is an assistant professor of global health policy at the London School of Economics and was appearing on BBC News to discuss the Covid-19 crisis. Her daughter, Scarlett, crashes Dr Wenham's well begun interview with BBC's Christian Fraser, trying to figure out where to put a picture she had painted of a unicorn.
The little girl stole the show as she refused to give up until she found the best location in the house to put the picture. "Mummy, where do you want this picture, Scarlett asked, before repeating, 'Mummy, where do you want it?'
The girl even struck up a conversation with the newsreader when the interviewer addressed the little girl saying, "Scarlett, I think it looks better on the lower shelf. It's a lovely unicorn."
After this, she went on to ask the interviewer's name. "Mummy, what's his name?" Scarlett asked, to which the newsreader replied, 'My name is Christian."
In a similar incident, another journalist Deborah Haynes, from Kent, was interrupted on Sky News when her son came into the room to ask how many biscuits he was allowed to eat.
The incidents left viewers in splits as one person wrote on Twitter: 'I love kids. They don't care if mum has an important BBC interview. They must attend to the much more important matter of which shelf to put the unicorn picture.' While another person wrote: 'Good on the news reader to act normal and engage with the child....well done BBC!'
