A 10-year-old boy was found dead in his flat in Sharjah, the police have confirmed to Khaleej Times. It was not immediately clear how the boy died.

David Punnakkal was a grade 6 student of Ryan International School. The family hails from Kannur, Kerala.

The police were informed about the tragedy on Tuesday. Paramedics and police patrols rushed to the flat in Al Qassimiya, but the boy was already dead by the time they reached. The body has been transferred to the forensic lab to ascertain the cause of death.

A case has been registered at Al Gharb Police Station and the boy's parents and relatives are being questioned.

The family hails from Kannur, Kerala.
