A 38-year-old Emirati father drowned in the Shalila Sea, Abu Dhabi, while trying to rescue his seven-year-old son, who was also drowned.
Informed sources with the Abu Dhabi Police said a search and rescue team looked for the drowned father and son until they fished them out.
"The public is urged to strictly observe safety rules and regulations and avoid risky places."
Drowning may happen very quickly in just few seconds, they warned. "Investigations are underway to identify the reasons behind the tragic drowning."
"Parents should always keep an eye on their children and never leave them unattended or swimming alone, particularly at undesignated areas, or where no lifeguards are present."
