The university has a distinction of being supported by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which provides an important link to the business community.

Speaking with Khaleej Times, Dr Omar Hefni, President of UD said: “The PhD is a comprehensive research-based graduate degree. The research interests and the research problems of a candidate provide flexibility for students to gain insights into a wide variety of disciplines as the student can seek expertise in Management, HRM, Marketing, Finance & Banking, Accounting, Leadership, Operations & Logistics Management.”

Each PhD degree requires the completion of core courses, specialisation courses and a dissertation module. UD’s business programmes are accredited locally by the UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and globally by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international.

The programme is developed and taught by a team of professors with a focus on research in the UAE, GCC and MENA region. Visiting faculty from international universities will also advise students on their research as the university has collaborations with University of North Florida, Califronia State University-Fullerton, Michigan State University (Eli-Broad Graduate School of Management) in USA and Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) in France who are all AACSB accredited business schools.

Faculty from these business schools and other accredited business schools are engaged as part time faculty in addition to six core faculty members at UD. This experience benefits both the PhD students and the PhD faculty.
