107 asset and fund managers operating in ADGM, currently managing 137 funds
Billed as “citizen science”, the global tech challenge allows students with skills in ICT, engineering, design, and business disciplines the opportunity to contribute their creativity and talents in a bid to improve life. With events planned in over 40 nations, the International Space Apps Challenge is a non-stop 48 hour “technology marathon” (hackathon), taking place for the first time in the GCC in the UAE on April 19-20.
The NASA hackathon — an event produced by the Arab Youth Venture Foundation (AYVF) and sponsored by Abu Dhabi Water and Electric Authority (ADWEA) — will see a call for dynamic talent to develop mobile apps, data visualisation, platform solutions, software and hardware for web, tablets, and smartphones and with over 50 challenges for participants. They are also given the opportunity to create one of their own space technology tools. With students from across the UAE already registered — with many invited personally by the US Department of State, the event will be hosted at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Abu Dhabi Men’s campus, with registration still open.
CEO of AYVF Lisa LaBonte spoke about the collaborative initiative: “Space technologies and applications impact our daily lives on earth by bolstering critical sectors such as water and power, navigation, communications, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and emergency management.”- news@khaleejtimes.com
