The educational initiatives that need to be created and fostered require three tiers of training. Initially there needs to be a move toward strengthening STEM education at the school and college level. The Ministry of Education is already taking huge steps to achieve this and is increasing support for STEM and innovation education across the UAE from early school to postgraduate tertiary levels. The second level of training required is for universities to prepare graduates with the correct skill sets, critical thinking abilities and specialised proficiency in technical areas invested to man the workforce needed for companies that would establish their manufacturing plants in the UAE. We are doing this at different universities in Dubai and will continue to develop such programmes that would be current and up to date with the technical manufacturing innovations required to support this vision. The third level of training needed would provide standardised international training in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), further specialised R&D technical skills, as well as management, regulatory affairs and strategic leadership training recognised and accredited internationally.
