“The qualitative progress the education in UAE is witnessing is a product of the far-sighted vision of the President and a result of the great interest shown by His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of ADEC, for education as an investment on human resources, being the mainstay of the nation and its most valuable asset,” Shaikh Mansour said today during a glittering ceremony to honour
G12 top-achievers for the school year 2011-2012 at the Emirates Palace Hotel. A number of 150 G12 Emirati and non-Emirati top achieving students attending public schools and Institutes of Applied Technology who have achieved a minimum score of 98%, as well as Emirati special needs students achieving a minimum of 95%, one from each regional office.
Present at the ceremony were Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al- Qattami, Minister of Education, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of ADEC, and a number of undersecretaries at Ministry for Presidential Affairs, director of education zones, and top educators.
At the ceremony, Sheikh Mansour presented each student with a university scholarship as a gift from the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and cash amount of AED 20,000 each in recognition of their diligence and hard work.
During the ceremony, organisers announced that H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed
Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, would offer 20 scholarships at the Abu Dhabi University (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses).
Director General of ADEC Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili said this annual event reflects the keen interest of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of ADEC, in advancing the educational system to world class standards.
