The host school principal said “emergency measures” were taken to reach the CBSE examination controller who authorised photo-copying exam papers to make provisions for students.

The group of students started the exam one hour late and had to face additional pressure — because of a human error which could have been avoided.

Every year, final exams of Grade 10 and 12 are a major cause of stress for students. Students have to reach their school on the morning of the exam, before being taken to another exam centre identified by the board. Seating plans are changed every day and students have to sit in new places and new classrooms — in an attempt to curb malpractices.

Most schools believe such a system increases transparency and reduces the risk of cheating by students.
