On Sunday, The Emirates Foundation for Youth Development launched the fourth round of the Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Higher Education Grant, which targets graduates from the Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses of the university.

The five-year programme was instituted in May 2011 and will see scholarships be awarded to academically exceptional students, many of whom participate in extracurricular community or university activities.

Full master’s or doctoral scholarships will be awarded to applicants for enrolling into leading universities across the UAE and overseas for highly sought-after programmes in education, social studies, tourism, science majors, museum and curatorial studies, as well as, healthcare, public administration and engineering.

Mohanna Al Muhairi, chief operating officer at the foundation, said: “The grant programme conforms to our core mission that focuses on supporting the Emirati youth, contributing to developing knowledge, nurturing talented and creative UAE nationals and enabling students who wish to pursue further education.”

The scholarship is open to candidates above the age of 21 years. In addition to holding a degree from Zayed University, the applicants should have been accepted by or in the process of enrolling into one of the universities within the UAE, or the world’s top 200 universities that are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

For overseas grants, tuition fees plus travel and living allowances will be awarded. Students applying to a university for a master’s degree or PhD studies in 2013, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and above and an IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent, are eligible for the grant and can apply online between January 6 to February 6.
