Students of any age or nationality, and those who are applying to any institute of higher learning, or sports or arts programme, have the challenge of describing in a two-minute video message why they should receive financial support.
The top 100 videos with the most likes and shares on Facebook will be narrowed down to 30 by the middle of the month and put back online for a final popular vote, with the winner being selected towards the end of March.
“We couldn’t spend a lot of money on our marketing plans initially and most of our business was generated through social media. Now we feel, it’s time to give back to the people who have helped us become successful,” said Mohammed Bitar, founding partner of Just Falafel. Just Falafel, which started business in Abu Dhabi in December 2006, has grown to become a known brand in eight countries as the innovative food on the menu have become an instant-hit.
The campaign, which started on Monday, will see the participating students send in the video entries before the deadline for the first round ends on February 16.
He added: “The campaign will reward the creativity and aspiration of a deserving student and we’re delighted to play a role in his or her education to thank the people who have built our brand through social media.”
The winning student will earn full academic tuition with all expenses paid for until a degree is secured.
“We want to realise the goals and expectations of talented individuals and this is a unique way where the people will decide who wins the scholarship reward. It is also a great way to educate people and organisations on becoming committed as they grow and become successful,” said Bitar.
Students can post their video entries by logging onto the JustFalafel fanpage on facebook.
