A UNESCO report found that journalists and news outlets reporting on environmental issues dealt with about 750 attacks in the past 15 years
The All Rounder’s Quiz contest has already received a nod from over 40 schools in the UAE, YouthPower events team leader Prashant Chandola said. “This is the first time ever, quiz would be used as a medium to empower youth,” he added.
Questions will be planned, designed and implemented through a special software that will eliminate human error and ensure a level playing field through random selection of questions for each participating student.
“Typically, such events are based on the concept of ‘elimination,’ which leaves one team on a high and has a negative effect on practically everyone else who participated in it. We want to turn the concept on its head and make every youngster feel special,” Chandola said.
Each school will face two rounds, one on general knowledge and the other on current affairs, health, environment and general UAE and GCC awareness.
After the semi-final stage, each team will be tested for their ability to work with teams, leadership, extempore speech, critical thinking and problem solving.
YouthPower event manager Harmee Rehal said the easy-going approach would take the pressure off the youngsters.
The contest will be held on December 7 at Shaikh Rashid Auditorium of the Indian High School, Dubai.
