Launched in July 2011 by the Health Authority — Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the award aims at acknowledging professionals who have contributed to the improvement and enhancement of the healthcare system, encouraging medical and scientific research, honouring voluntary work and promoting philanthropy.
The approved applications include 17 in Clinical Performance Distinction Award category, 13 in Health Administration and Management Distinction Award category, 13 in Surgical Performance Distinction Award category, 13 in Medical Teaching Distinction Award category, 12 in Medical Research Distinction Award category, nine in Clinical Diagnostics and Laboratory Distinction Award category, seven in Allied Health Distinction Award Category, seven in Medial Volunteer Distinction Award category, and seven in Theme of the year - Public Health and Health Promotion Distinction Award category.
“Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award (ADMDA) is intended to be one of the most prestigious awards programmes in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, which is proudly administered and presented by the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi,” said Dr Mohammed Bader Al Seiari, Award Executive Director.
“The overarching aim of the award is to celebrate quality, innovation and excellence in healthcare in Abu Dhabi. Each year, the award seeks out innovations, overachieving performances of healthcare professionals and approaches that characterise these qualities — celebrating our health champions and demonstrating the highest commitment to the patient experience and outcomes in Abu Dhabi,” he added.
The Awards Scientific Committee started evaluating the nominees from November 25 onwards.
Winners will be announced and honoured at a special ceremony scheduled to take place on February 25, 2013 at Jumeirah Hotel at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.
