100 scholarships for media studies at AUD

A meeting was recently held between representatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) and the American University in Dubai (AUD) to extend the partnership between the Foundation and the Mohammed bin Rashid School For Communication (MBRSC) of AUD.

Since 2009, scholarships have been granted to undergraduate UAE nationals and Arab citizens and two batches of students have already graduated, taking the total to 85 since its inauguration. A total of 100 scholarships will be made available by the MBRF to further educate the next generation of Arab media professionals.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, notably the continuous support and encouragement offered to media students whether they are UAE nationals or Arab citizens living in the UAE, in addition to the importance of teaching media according to global standards and methods in Arabic. Also discussed during the meeting was the mechanism for promoting the scholarships programmes through specialised channels.

The meeting comes within the foundation’s mission to encourage educational centres and institutions, such as MBRSC of AUD, to graduate and prepare local and Arab media cadres. Indeed, the focal point of the Mohammed bin Rashid School for Communication of AUD’s mission is to educate media professionals with an outstanding command of the Arabic language. The Foundation also believes that the role of these cadres stands strong in shaping a local media that is capable of competing regionally and internationally.
