Ajman Police on Monday evening arrested an Arab man for stealing a car from Umm Al Quwain and brought to Ajman.
Colonel Abdallah Saif Al Matrooshi, Deputy Director of the Ajman Police operations, said that the police received a notification reporting an accident near Hamedy park where a car had hit a lamppost.
The car had a duplicate number plate and was driven by a motorist who had stolen the vehicle. He was driving it in a reckless way that led to the strong collision with the lamp post, severely damaging the car. Other duplicate number plates were found inside the car.
He added that the motorist who stole the car changed his clothes and drove a motorbike after the accident to avoid being arrested but was eventually arrested by the CID team.
Ajman Police urge motorists to lock their cars properly. They should immediately contact the police in case their cars are stolen. Also in case, they spot any wayward motorist they should immediately contact the police.
