The Court of First Instance found the two Sudanese students, identified as A.K. and H.A., guilty of the assault that led to a permanent disability in the victim.

According to prosecution, the duo assaulted the 17-year-old Sudanese compatriot, A.O., in June. The victim told the investigating prosecutor that he was having dinner with a Sudanese girl at a mall in Rashidiya when A.K. approached him.

Telling the victim that he was the girl’s uncle, A.K. asked A.O. to accompany him out to the parking lot so they could talk. When A.O. approached the parking, he saw H.A. standing there and within moments H.A. and A.K. began beating him up, striking blows all over his body. A security guard stepped in and put an end to the attack.

The victim was taken to a hospital by his brother, and the girl later informed him that H.A. was her stepbrother. According to the forensic report, A.O. was left with a skull fracture as a result of the brutal assault. The verdict has been appealed. — mary@khaleejtimes.com
