Emarat Al Youm reported that the man challenged the ruling before the appeal court, admitting to taking pictures in the area, only because it was his hobby, adding that he didn't know that the area was restricted.
He asked the Appeal Court to return the fine - he was issued by the Court of First Instance - along with his camera seized by authorities.
The student claimed to have paid the fine from his college tuition money.
The court adjourned the case.
