Major-General Humaid Mohammed Al Hudaidi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, said that police have had to repair 11 of them. “All repaired radars are back in business and operating like all others in the country,” he said.

Six of the repaired radars are on Al Dhaid to Madam road while four are on Maliha road, he noted. The other one is in the city.

He also said that police are still investigating the incidents and are on the lookout for perpetrators of the crime. He added that shooting such apparatus hinders the authorities’ efforts to ensure safer roads across the country.

“We cannot disclose the progress of the investigation at this point but we want to assure the general public that police are following some good leads and soon the perpetrators would be brought to justice.”

He said that the practice of shooting down radars is alien to the good behaviour and morals of the youths of the UAE and that a small misbehaved gang is suspected to be behind the shootings.

He also urged the public to call police and provide good leads if they suspect any of the people living in their neighbourhoods are criminals.
