One month for pigeon thief

The Khorfakkan Appeals Court on Wednesday, reduced to one month, from two months, a jail term handed down by the Khorfakkan Court of First Instance to an Asian for stealing 18 pigeons from a house in Kalba.

According to court records, the Kalba city police, an affiliate of the Sharjah Police Department, received a complaint from MR, a Bangladeshi accusing MA, a Pakistani, of sneaking into his house and taking off with 18 pigeons.

Acting on the complaint, the policemen arrested the suspect, who, on interrogation, confessed to have stolen the birds. He said he was helped by his friend, ML. He told the police that, he and his accomplice had decided to steal the pigeons and to sell them to a poultry shop in the city.

The Khorfakkan Court of First Instance sentenced him to two months in jail, but he did not content with the verdict and contested it at Khorfakkan Court of Appeals.

The court found him guilty, 
but reduced the judgment to 
one month.
