The 22-year-old man, whose trial began on Sunday, was summoned for questioning after it they found out that he was with the woman just before she was found dead.
He faced charges of using hashish, Tramadol and other narcotics in the Court of First Instance.
A police lieutenant said that the Operations Room of the Dubai Police was informed about an Arab woman’s body found in the hotel apartment in Jumeirah in August last year. The lieutenant saw the woman’s body in the apartment and after gathering some leads, it became clear that the accused was with her before she died.
The police officers apprehended the accused and on inspecting the flat, they found drugs and tablets which were seized. Police experts were called to the apartment to further inspect, collect evidence and complete the necessary procedures.
The defendant was taken to the Bur Dubai police station. The lab tests of the defendant’s urine sample confirmed it contained traces of hashish, Tramadol and three other types of narcotics.
