A man sexually assaulted a female tourist during a busy concert and then disappeared, the Court of First Instance has heard.
However, a footage taken by someone at the scene captured the incident, in which the 41-year-old Asian, an unemployed, was seen sticking himself very close to the woman's body while touching himself.
The incident took place on February 7 and was reported at Al Barsha police station.
During the public prosecution investigation, the complainant, a 53-year-old tourist from New Zealand, said that she was at a concert when the man pressed his body against hers. "I felt him on me. He was just standing very close. I tried to get away from him repeatedly but he would still come close. He was quick to go away."
A police lieutenant said the woman filed a complaint. "The suspect left traces on her clothes. A video taken by a witness showed what happened. When apprehended, the accused denied the woman's claims but the tourist identified him."
However, the defendant did not justify why he fled the scene, the lieutenant added.
The trial will continue on August 6.
