Major-General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Director-General of the General Department of Anti-narcotics, said that the furniture shop sales executive had 899 tramadol pills with him while he was arrested.
After receiving information that the suspect was promoting drugs among youth, a team of anti-drug officials went to Rashidiya at 10.45pm, where they spotted the suspect in his car. He fiercely resisted the police while they tried to search his vehicle and even rammed into police cars before finally giving himself up. The police seized a plastic bag containing 899 tramadol pills.
The suspect said an Asian prisoner guided him to the location of drugs in Dubai and other emirates, from where he collected drugs placed by some unknown persons. The suspect was referred to the public prosecution.
Major-General Mahdi said people should educate youth on the dangerous impact of drugs, which was damaging the future of the country. He urged the public to call the police at 800400400 if they had any information about drug crime.
