Jobless man accused of sexually assaulting maid

A jobless man stood trial on Sunday in the Court of First Instance on the charge of raping a maid at the knife point.

According to prosecution records, the jobless, a 28-year-old stateless, forced himself on the Indonesian maid in her room at the external annex of her sponsor’s villa in Al Qusais.

In the prosecution arraignment sheet, the defendant is also accused of the charge of trespassing into others’ property as he intruded in the maid’s room.

The maid, 28, said during the prosecution investigation that the defendant knocked on her door in the dawn hours on a day in September last year.

She thought it was her work mate who was knocking on the door. She opened the door and she was surprised by the defendant who was covering his face and holding a knife. He entered the room and closed the door. He asked to have sex with her and threatened to kill her with the knife if she did not obey him. After the sexual assault, the accused stole her mobile phone and fled the scene.

During the prosecution investigation, the defendant admitted that he raped the maid, saying that he was under the influence of liquor. The Criminal Evidence report showed that the semen stains taken from the complainant matched with the defendant’s.

The defendant is facing charges of theft, rape under threat using knife and use of liquor.
