The Sharjah Police have launched a manhunt for a driver who ran over an unidentified woman in Al Shahba area on Saturday and fled the place without stopping.
According to the police, the woman in her thirties was hit by a speeding car and died on the spot.
The police operations room received a call on Saturday evening about the accident. A team of officers from traffic police, ambulance and patrol rushed to the site and moved the body of the woman to the morgue of Al Kuwaiti hospital.
The police are working to identify the woman to inform her family and complete the formalities.
In another run over accident during the weekend, a three-year-old Emirati boy was killed when a speeding car driven by an Arab woman hit him in Al Rifa area of Sharjah on Friday.
Police sources said that the boy was playing with his elder brother on the street near his villa. He was trying to cross the road to bring back a ball thrown by his brother when the car ran over him, causing immediate death.
A police team shifted the body of the boy to the morgue of Al Qasimi hospital. The driver was taken into custody for interrogation.
Boy falls to death
Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation into the death of 12-year-old Pakistani boy, who fell off the window of his family's flat in the 8th floor of a building in Al Tawoon area in Sharjah. The police received a call on Friday about the incident, and shifted the body to the forensic laboratory for autopsy to determine the exact cause of the death. The family members of the boy were questioned by the police.
