According to the prosecution records, the 24-year-old Indian defendant stabbed the Bangladeshi man in his abdomen when he tried to break up a fight between the former and another man.

The complainant, a 37-year-old clerk, told the prosecutor that he was near his house in Naif on a day in September last year when he saw the defendant and his friends engaged in a fight with a Bangladeshi man. He got close and advised them to leave the area but one of them told him to stay out of the problem.

When the complainant continued to advise them to leave the place, he was suddenly stabbed in his abdomen by the defendant with a knife. The complainant screamed for help and his friends rushed to his rescue. The police arrived shortly after and arrested everybody involved. The complainant was taken to Al Baraha Hospital. He recognised the defendant as the one who had stabbed him during an identification parade.

According to the forensic medicine report of the Criminal Lab, the stab wound victim had in his abdomen was deep and could have been fatal had he not been quickly taken to the hospital.
