According to a senior police officer, investigations showed that the suspects had robbed 30 shops in the emirate over the last few months.

“We have received reports that some shops and eateries were robbed at several areas of the emirate,” said Lt-Col Dr Hamad Al Dabani, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Section of the Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The CID men initiated intensive investigations and deployed undercover agents at the hot spots.

“Two men were suspected, monitored, tracked and caught while trying to remove the door of a shop in the same style used in previous robberies.”

The suspects, identified as 27-year-old A.A. and 30-year-old A.H., carried no identification documents.

“The duo admitted to having robbed cash, electric devices and tools from 30 shops in the emirate,” he said.

Lt-Col Dr Al Dabani added that the tool used in the robberies, a sharp metal, was found hidden close to the house of one of the suspects.

“Some of the stolen items were recovered from their houses, he said, noting that the robbers had been referred to the Ras Al Khaimah Public Prosecution.

Col. Salem Al Darmaki, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Ras Al Khaimah Police, has urged all shop owners to be more cautious and to follow all the security procedures.

“Shop doors need to be tightly and securely locked to prevent robbery.”
