An employer in Ras Al Khaimah has allegedly ordered a man to hide narcotics in her employee's car - just so she could have him arrested, deported and get his visa cancelled.
An investigation launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Police led to the arrest of four people: a drug addict who admitted to the crime; the husband of the employer; the employer; and the woman's nephew. The group reportedly agreed to frame up the Asian employee so they could get him deported.
According to the indictment sheet, the main defendant confessed that he placed the drugs in the complainant's car, but he claimed that he didn't mean to do it.
"I was under the influence of narcotics at that time, and was not aware of what I was doing," the man said. He also insisted that no one asked him to do the crime.
The defence lawyer said the other defendants - the employer, her husband and her nephew - had nothing to do with the incident.
"They did not agree with the first defendant to hide the narcotic crystals in the complainant's car, and denied the charges altogether," he said.
He added that the man had already admitted to his crime and "no one has forced him to do so".
While the woman's husband told the prosecution that he was involved, the lawyer said he confessed only because he didn't want his wife to get dragged into the allegation.
"The first defendant already has a criminal record, while the charges are baseless and there is no sufficient evidence," he said.
The court adjourned the case to May 29 for the final verdict.
