The Dubai Police have arrested a man who posed as a military man and allegedly raped a Filipina woman.
The 30-year-old victim lodged a complaint at the Rashidiya Police Station saying the Arab man in military uniform stopped his car near her and asked for her passport, while she was walking near the metro station.
Finding that the woman was in the process of transferring her visa, he asked her to accompany him to the police station to have a check on her passport and visa. He then drove her to a flat where he dragged her in. When she refused to have sex, he beat her until she collapsed and raped her.
"He gave me Dh50 and threatened me to not tell anyone about the rape," the victim told the police.
The suspect then drove the victim in his car and dropped her at the same location where he picked up.
The woman went to the hospital and informed the police, who launched an investigation and arrested the suspect S.R.
He was subjected to DNA tests, which proved he raped the woman, and was referred to court.
S.R. told the police officers that he managed to get a fake military card three months prior to the crime.
